Fic Challenge
It's been two years since the last time I ran a fic challenge, so I thought it was about time to resurrect it. For those who remember, it's the Behind Every Good Woman Rare-Het Challenge. For those who don't, here's the skinny:

The Behind Every Good Woman Rare-Het Challenge

"Behind every good woman lies a trail of men." Multi-fandom, rare het, casual sex, snarky feminist humor, one-night stands, youthful indiscretions and more. Any fandom, any rating, any length, any genre welcome. The only requirements are that the fic be a (preferably) little-known, non-slash pairing.

The challenge is open to everyone for sign-ups. Sign-ups close June 3, fics will be due June 18.

I come across so many diverse pairings these days, I'm not actually sure what constitutes "rare" any more! Would Frank and Alice Longbottom (HP) be considered rare since hardly anyone writes them, or not rare since they're actually a canon couple?

...which I guess is my way of saying that I will sign up officially before the deadline, but not quite yet. Did you send the challenge to the newsletters, btw? There's the [info]daily_snitch, [info]hogwarts_today and the [info]quibbler_report, plus [info]thegoldenseeker which specialises in the ladies of Harry Potter. I'm sure there are newsletters for other fandoms, too, if you want to get a few more people involved!

Frank/Alice is perfect. By 'rare' I generally mean anything other than the 'major' pairings in a particular fandom. In HP that's stuff like Ron/Hermione, etc. That pairing can totally appear in a story, I'd just want other, less popular pairings to be included as well. :)

What's the etiquette for submitting stuff to newsletters? (And feel free to promote this to anyone you think might be interested as well, if you'd like.)

I'll mention it on my LJ - it's really about time I posted again!

With d_s and h_t, I think you just email them at the addresses on the user info, describe the challenge briefly and ask if they'd mind mentioning it. I've done it a couple of times and they've never not done so. Not so sure about quibbler_report or thegoldenseeker, but I believe I know one of the reccers for thegoldenseeker, so I'll mention it to her and see what she says, if you like?

And excellent, I've been wanting to write some Frank/Alice for ages! Therefore:

Uhm, really sorry about this. I'm doing a chaptered fic for the challenge, and I just posted the first section of it in my personal LJ and in a community. Before I sign up, got a question. What is the length? Meaning, no way could I do a 5k story, but I could manage 1-2k. Just making sure so I don't over do myself since I have another fic thing due in July that I need to get started on.

I would love to sign up, but a question before I do. I see the (s) behind pairings. How many are we allowed? And do they have to be same fandom? It's no problem if they do all need to be from one fandom. I just wanted to be clear before I signed up.

Absolutely. RPF is just fine. I actually think my own submission is RPF. Sort of. (If an emo rock star plays himself on a teen soap, is that technically real-person fiction? ;) I have no idea.)

I'm so glad you like the challenge theme. :) It's one of my favorites. And thank you for pimping it. I'd love to cast as wide a net as possible.

I'm definitely talking about Pete Wentz. As much as I love some Peyton/Jake, I really liked the subplot with Pete. It was cute.

Peyton/Jake was just too... you know... fraught with drama. At least with Pete she could just be herself, you know. And he's a good cook! And would help her with makeup. I really hope you write this Pete/Peyton or Pete/whomever. Because I want to see what you do with it.
